So is it enough to say that according to the Bible Christians can dance and leave it at that? I don’t believe so. There are many things God has given us that can be used sinfully or to glorify Him, and dancing is one of them. Some people choose to sin when dancing, and that is abusing God’s gift of dancing. However, that doesn’t mean we should cut out dancing because some people sin while dancing. Dancing can be used to glorify God, exercise, and to have a good time. The difference on how dancing is done is greatly influenced by the environment in which it is done.
At Lion and Lamb Production we are committed to providing a clean dance environment to its clients, especially youth groups, in a number of ways.
We won’t play slow songs for church events unless specifically asked for. This is for a number of reasons. Slow songs tend to encourage dating relationships when we don’t believe that the church needs to encourage them. Also, when slow songs are played, there are always those who are left out when belonging means everything to students of that age.
We will lead dances and other activities to keep the attention off each other and on dancing. When appropriate, we will lead various dances throughout an event such as disco dances. Likewise, we will provide other entertainment to keep activities of a group nature.
We won’t allow any indecent dancing. We are not afraid to ask anyone to stop dancing in a particular manner or to go as far to ask someone to leave.
We will remind guests/patrons that the reason we are here is to glorify God, and to do so in your dancing. Dancing can be very fun, but it can be sinful, and we are not naive of that. We will provide a clean dancing environment. Dancing, like music, was created in order for us to worship God.
